Meet the Cats

A few of the regulars by name, and below them the latest from our Facebook page. Every cat you see has been through TNR: fixed, vaccinated, ear-tipped, and cared for daily.

The regulars

Jack, a grey and white cat, sitting upright on a black wrought-iron patio chair
Jack

Jack lives close-by and shows up for most meals. Jack loves attention… until his belly is full and he can head home.

Harper, a brown tabby and white cat, sitting on a concrete walkway mid-meow
Harper

You can’t name a cat “Harper” and not expect a drama queen. She has the best “sad-eyes” when she doesn’t get dinner quick enough…

Zeppo, a black and white cat, stretched out on her side on warm concrete
Zeppo

Ok… we didn’t know which was which when we decided to name the Marxist cats after Marx Bros! Zeppo is actually the mama of at least 2 other cats in the Marx sub-colony. A “perma-kitten,” tiny Zeppo does cute stuff every day… she’s just about the happiest cat in our colony!

Francis, an orange tabby, lying on a wooden porch with his paws stretched forward
Francis

He was acting so tough when he showed up, we had to call him “Francis”… he provides security when our human feeds and decides which cats are allowed into the yard. But secretly, he really loves flopping on the sidewalk for belly rubs!

Phil, a grey cat with pale green eyes, standing on a weathered picnic table
Phil

Great leadership by example… Phil’s attitude and cool vibe endear him to the other cats. Phil has helped socialize many of the cats in the yard. His stoic demeanor hides his silly, fun-loving side.

Rufus, a black cat, looking toward the camera indoors in front of a shelf of records
Rufus

Ol’ Rufus… or “grandpa” survived at least 11 years on the streets and in the colony before finally moving indoors. He’s just a little guy trying to figure out the rules… he loves most people and living the indoor life.

Chloe, a tabby and white cat, standing on cracked concrete and looking up expectantly
Chloe

Little Chloe lives in constant fear of her arch-enemy/near twin, Harper. Their decade-long battle rages on, in spite of the fact that neither one is strong enough to hurt the other.

Zoe, a black and white kitten, tucked between the brick wall and a rain-soaked wooden step
Zoe aka Zooey aka Zoolander

Due to a nasty respiratory infection when she was young, Zoe came to live indoors as a kitten and never left. She’s as evil as she is cute.

Earl, a black cat, crouched at the edge of the feeding table while a grey friend digs in beside him
Earl

A popular cat that loves everyone, Earl enjoys spending time with Chloe and sharing food off his plate with others. It’s hard to get a pic of him alone!

Walter, a fluffy grey cat with a white chest, fixing the camera with a serious stare on the porch table
Walter

Fun fact: Walter’s fur is the softest substance known to mankind. He’s also handsome and smart, but doesn’t like most people. Like we said, smart cat…

Carrie, a grey and white cat, crouched beside a flowered plate at the edge of the garden
Carrie

The ultimate loner, Carrie just shows up for meals and spends the rest of her time in a parking lot across the street. Despite her small frame, Carrie doesn’t take nonsense from anyone!

Bradley, a black and white cat, prowling across the glass feeding table
Bradley

Handsome, sweet and a little shy, Big Bad Brad sleeps elsewhere, but doesn’t miss too many meals. He likes a little attention before he eats and expects affection with his kibble.

Stevie, a tabby and white cat, greeting the camera from the upstairs balcony rail
Stevie

“The greeter”… she is usually the first cat to approach at mealtime. Despite eating first, she’s a petite little thing who loves to climb.
